Mandate of the Agriculture sector
The sector is mandated to increase agricultural productivity that ensures food security, improved household incomes and improved livelihoods of the farming communities. To achieve these, government has put in place strategies of strengthening extension services at sub-counties, strategic framework for poverty eradication (Poverty Eradication Action Plan [PEAP]) and strategic frame work for addressing factors that undermine agricultural productivity (PMA). It has also designed a strategy that focuses on increasing farmers' access to improved knowledge, technologies, and information (National Agricultural Advisory Services [NAADS].
